Mormons Claim the authority of the Melchizedek priesthood stems from the fact that Melchizedek himself was actually Shem son of Noah, this belief is lifted directly from the Jewish Talmud. However our Mormon friends further enhance the power of this belief by claiming that Noah was not actually a man at all, but in truth was an earthly avatar of the angel Gabriel and so Melchizedek is a Nephilim (appropriately enough) that is to say a semi-angelic being, the offspring of a human and an angel and so carries the priesthood of the angels in human form.

Therefore the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthoods are the earthy and celestial priesthoods respectively.

There are several times we are given authority by the Bible. Check out John 1:12. The word power here is the Greek Exousia…which translates as authority.
If we only have authority by holding the priesthood, then all born again Christians have that Priesthood…check out 1 Peter 2:5, 9; Hebrews 4:14-16 and Revelation 1:6.

Ok fair enough lets keep this simple, so what do you think Jesus meant by saying till the end of the world?

Regarding why He didn’t say it to 500 people that’s simply up to Him. Jesus being God was likely well aware His words wopuld become scripture so therefore maybe He only needed to say that once.

Present a persuasive argument, one not built on a foundation of dogma, and I will concede it. I don’t find yours very convincing, but you are free to rephrase it.

Actually, all you have shown is that you reapplied to yourself a statement made to a small, select group which did not even comprise all believers. For instance I asked you why not declare it on the occasion when he appeared to over 500 believers.
